10MW Power Plant
Reducting Greenhouse Gases in Generating Clean Electricty, Valuable BioChar, Carbon Credits
This 10MW power plant will be connected to the national grid in Sri Lanka. This plant is fueled by biochar from 600,000 bamboo trees planted on 2,000 acres. Not only will Sri Lanka benefit from clean, renewable energy, but the bamboo forest is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions of up to 50,000 tons per year, and will also yield valuable carbon credits and excess biochar for the open market. This project has created 600 jobs for the local citizens.
